October 28 2016

Dear Families,
I have a few things to ask/tell you about this week, so here goes:      Some of you have asked about band for this year.  Mr. Graham has a potential candidate and needs to assess the interest from the families. If you’d like your child to participate in band, please let him know as soon as possibleJ.               I know several of the kids asked about attending Pleasant Valley Camps.  There is a Winter Camp that happens during our mid-winter break. 4-6 grades 2/17-2/20. See www.pleasantvalleycamp.org for more information.            Also, I need a volunteer to make, but don’t sand, 17 pieces of wood cut from a 1” x 4” piece of wood.  Each piece should be about 9” long.  If you could help with this, I could send a sample home with your child if you’re not sure about what I mean. I am sure I am as clear as mud.

October 21
Dear Families, Some of you have asked about band for this year.  Mr. Graham has a potential candidate and needs to assess the interest from the families. If you’d like your child to participate in band, please let me know as soon as possibleJ.
Spelling: Lesson 6 This is a review week.   Workbook and test are both due FRIDAY, October 28th. The format for the review tests in 4th grade is a little different.  There will be a sentence with a word spelled incorrectly and the student needs to recognize the misspelling and choose from a list of possible misspelled words.  It is the format that is used on our standardized tests in the spring so it is important to practice.  The best way to practice it to read and reread the list and notice the spellings.
Math:  This week we are practicing multiplication and division with 5’s , and, of course,  keeping up on the 4’s, 3’s,  2’s , 1’s and 0’s!  The kids all cheered when I said that next week we will do 5”s!!!  The 0-5’s multiplication and division test will be Friday, October 28.

Social Studies/Geography-. Imaginary Country Maps are due Wednesday, I will send them home for homework if it doesn’t look like they will make it with class time.   Also, we are still playing the language game called: Wonderful Words in the Real World.  The student will get a skittle for every time they see or hear one of the Wonderful Words (at this time, landforms and cartographer) in the world.  So, parents, feel free to reminisce about a trip, or point out a word on the news or a TV show, or in a book, so your student can earn a skittle.  Common ones, like mountain, lake, and ocean are no longer accepted
