Hello Everyone, Here is the scoop for the week! Please look for a copy of the 2nd progress report in the Monday folder this week.  Please sign and return the envelope only. 

Homework:
Spelling:  Spelling as usual.   Lesson 13, test is Friday.
Social Studies:  Passport testing for this month is a bit early, December17.
Science:  Expect to find your children lurking around your house this week looking for inclined planes and screws. 
Math:  We are working on  divided by 7’s this week.  Thankfully there are only 5 new ones!! 
Reading – 20 minutes per day.  Even over vacation J. 
Bible:   “One Solitary Life” . We are memorizing this for a chapel on December 15th.  Please come!
City Gates:   Our school has adopted many families from the area, through the local outreach organization, City Gates.  Our class’s “adoptee” is a working low-income family with two kids. If you’d like to help, please send the items to school but don’t wrap them,  We will have a wrapping party here at school.   Here are some of their needs and ideas for gifts:

            Boy (10)  Pant (size 10 with adj. waist), Shirts (M) Shoes (4.5)  RC cars/trucks, books, notepads,
            Girl (8) Pants (size 8 with adj. waist) Shirts (M) Shoes, 4.5,  notepad, colored pencils, stuffed animals,                Barbie, anything from “Frozen”, books
            Mom-  Pants (16), shirts xl) shoes (6.5) heated blanket
            Dad-  Pants (34x32) Shirts XL, Shoes (12)
            Regarding the clothes for the parents: sometimes it is best to give a gift card so they can choose what  fits!

Computers:  Please help them practice keyboarding at home to increase mastery. It should be a regular part of homework.   We use Freetypinggame.net.     Mavis Beacon and Type to Learn are also good programs.  The BIG thing is for them to learn to keep their fingers in the proper, home row, position.  They want to hunt and peck.

November 16



Greetings on a dreary rainy November day!  I guess Northwest winter has arrived.  It is such a fun time of year, though, that somehow I don’t mind.  I hope this finds you cozy and warm.

Homework:
Spelling:  Lesson 11,    long “U”
Science:  Expect to find your children still lurking around your house this week, looking for simple machines J
Math:  6’s  in division this week.   Their mastery needs to be good to move forward with Long Multiplication and Long Division which are looming!!     6’s division tests will be Wednesday and Friday. 
Reading-20 minutes a day
Bible:   God is Omnipotent   Jeremiah 32:17`
Operation Christmas Child – Boxes are due November 18
Computers:  We are doing keyboarding practice once or twice a week during computer class.  This is a skill that 4th graders need to be reasonably proficient at by the end of 4th grade.  Please help them practice at home to increase mastery. It should be a regular part of homework.   We use Freetypinggame.net.     Mavis Beacon and Type to Learn are also good programs.  The BIG thing is for them to learn to keep their fingers in the proper, home row, position.  They want to hunt and peck. J There will be a grade for keyboarding at the end of progress 2 which is November 24.

November 2



Hello Families,
 The dismal weather has returned, but things are sunny and interesting in 4th grade.  Last week, they did a wonderful job of investigating, planning, making, revising and presenting their catapults.  We also were  learning  about  the Explorers,  and imagining why WE would go exploring despite the danger.  Their answers are hanging in the hall.   Quite interestingJ.   Onward to the ordinary:   
Homework:
Spelling:  Lesson 9- Long O
Science:  Expect to find your children lurking around your house this week, looking for simple machines J
Math: We took a multiplication fact test today that covered  1’s,2’s,3’s,4’s, and 5’s. Check their Monday folder to see how they did.  Their mastery needs to be good to move forward with Long Multiplication and Long Division which are coming up!!  We are practicing 6’s this week.   
Reading- Reading Calendar is due by tomorrow,  November 3.  It is an important part of the reading grade.
Bible:   God is Omniscient
Chapel:  One of the ways that we encourage generosity and love of others is by helping  Ana Maribel and Mfunelo . We collect an offering each week during class and then put it in the large collection on Tuesdays during chapel.

Please pick your cookie order up from the cafeteria NEXT FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6, between 3:00pm – 6pm.  If your child goes to Extended Care, drama or Sports, you will need to pick up your cookie dough when you pick your child up. It is important that you pick your order up because we don’t have the freezer space to store your order. Your order form and prizes will be with your order.
November       10  Veteran’s Day assembly, 2pm.   Please invite any family or friends that are veterans to join us.  We’d like  to honor them in this way.

November       12   Spirit Day-  RWB Patriotic Day

October 19



Homework:
Spelling:  Lesson 7- The long I. 
Science:  We have PLENTY of supplies.  Thank you!
Math: 4’s Division, and 1-4 division
Reading- Reading , Reading, Reading.  The book fair is this week.  It is a good opportunity to stock up on books that your student will love to read!
Bible:  Deuteronomy 31:6    The test will be Friday. 
Chapel:  One of the ways that we encourage this generosity and love of others  is to help Ana Maribel and Mfunelo . We collect an offering each week during the week in class and then put it in the large collection on Tuesdays during chapel.  
The fourth grade’s perfectly painted patterned pumpkin parade is coming right up.  Please send a small to medium pumpkin to school tomorrow.  We will be painting them on Tuesday.  It is best if your student writes his or her name in permanent marker on the bottom.
