December 1

Hello Everyone,
I hope you had a relaxing and blessed Thanksgiving.  My husband and I had already gotten together with the family so our actual day was quite quiet.  Quiet is good!   CCA is hoping to help City Gates Ministry with some of the families that it supports.  Look for Mr. Graham’s letter attached to this Monday Letter and for information on how you can help.  I have listed the family’s needs on the back of this letter.  If you can help, please send items in to class unwrapped, the class will have a wrapping party before we deliver the presents.  I will try and keep track of which needs have been taken care of, so email so I can let others know.  On another note, I am looking for a bit of help.  It involves a box knife and making  templates.  It shouldn’t take more than an hour or two. Anyone need a few volunteer hours?  Please let me know via email.  And thanks, it is for a Christmas present the students are making!

Nov 23

Hello Everyone,

I enjoyed meeting with each of you last week.  Please feel free to email or stop by if you think of any questionsJ.

Science: We are moving on to the study of electricity and magnetism.  You will be happy to know the project associated with this unit of study will be simpler and mostly done at schoolJ.

Operation Christmas Child   Thank you to all of you that sent in Operation Christian Childs boxes.  We send 169 boxes to Samaritan’s purse.   Praise the Lord!

Homework:
Spelling:  No spelling this week (can you believe it?)
Math:  This week we are adding the 8’s.  There are only 3!
Social Studies:  Listen for more questions this week! And remember PassPort testing tomorrow.
Reading-  20 minutes . Please help your student find a book they will enjoy reading from beginning to end.  Not just a chapter or two from this book and a few pages from another.   One of the values of the 20 minutes a day requirement is moving them toward becoming life-long readers.  My goal for them is to be so captivated by stories that they read under the covers with a flashlight at nightJ.
Bible:  Psalm 139: 13-14 ~ This is my favorite part of this psalm!

Upcoming Events:

November 25 ~ Passport Testing   TUESDAY
    November 26 ~ 1/2 day Schedule-Dismissal at 12:00pm
November 27-28 ~ Thanksgiving Break- (NO SCHOOL)
December 2~ November reading calendar due.  Calendar is one of the students’ grades.

Blessings,

Nov 17

Hello Everyone,
Wow!  Our contraption demonstration was grand fun.  The contraptions were innovative and well put-together!  Thank you to all parents who recorded the magic moments.  Please send a copy of the recordings to me so I can make them available to all the families.

Science: We are moving on to the study of electricity and magnetism.  You will be happy to know the project associated with this unit of study will be simpler and mostly done at schoolJ.

Operation Christmas Child   The due date is November 19. If your family can put together two shoeboxes please do so.  Our school goal is slightly more than the number of students in the whole school.

Homework:
Spelling: Lesson 12 is a review week.  The format for the test will be the same as the last review-  fill in the circle.  This is tricky for 4th graders, but the format for the Terra Nova testing is the same, so this is a practice run.
Math:  Division 0-6 again today and then on to the four  7’s:  7x7, 7x8, 7x9, 7x12! (7X10 and 7x11 don’t count-too easy....).
Social Studies:  We will be beginning our look at the colonists this week.
Reading-  20 minutes . Please help them find a book they will enjoy reading from beginning to end.  Not just a chapter or two from this book and a few pages from another.   One of the values of the 20 minutes a day requirement is moving them toward becoming life-long readers.  My goal for them is to be so captivated by stories that they read under the covers with a flashlight at nightJ.
Bible:  Psalm 139:1-6
