Nov 14 A bit of info
Math-  Review array, factors, products Identity property, zero property, quotient, divisor
                Workbook-  93-100.  Review/practice MATH FACTS
Spelling  Lesson 10 Wkbk and test on Friday 
                 5 WWRW words with definition, pronunciation, and use in a sentence due Thursday
Writing-  Pen Pal letter with  detailed paragraph (including topic sentence, 3 details, conclusion)    
               Final copy due Friday so I can mail before Thanksgiving

LA  Final review of Comma usage  Quiz on Thursday,   Discuss Literature Story Line- ie Story Mountain

November 7

Plans for the week of November 7. 2011

Math-  Adding and subtracting mixed numbers-  pg 79-90 in workbook.

Spelling Lesson 9 long “O” usually a very easy vowel!  First two pages of the week’s lesson are taught in class, the second two pages are homework.  The test will be MONDAY the 14th, not Friday the 11th. There is no school on Friday J

Science-  Wolf packet-  Tooth, skull, leg and foot structure,  gait. 

Social Studies-  pgs 36-39 Introduction to Jamestown and the Pilgrims.

Grammar-  More examples of where and why we use commas in our writing, pgs 14-16 in Commas Packet.   Simple and Compound subjects,  English skills book pgs 77-80

Bible-  Servants and Thankfulness lessons pgs 73-75 in workbook. 



Ongoing homework:

Reading:   Read Read Read and record what you’ve read in Reading Notebook with genre and conflict noted. 

Math:  Math facts to 9’s-  testing now in random order 2-9’s  Very important to get the facts down.  After Christmas they will need to stay in at recess to practice in order to pass the quizzes….   Any assignments that are not completed in class are also homework but we generally have about 15 minutes or more to work on them  in class. 

Spelling New unit each week, test of words on Friday’s.  First two workbook pages are worked on in class-  second two are homework.

Bible Verse   Should be on the Monday letter each week.  We will practice in class, but the main practice time is at home.   Test on Friday’s. 

Pass Port  The tests are monthly for this school wide program.  Primary practice time is at home.  A new map is sent home the first Monday of the month.  The score counts as a grade in Social Studies.

Math:  Fractions, Fractions, Fractions (the imperativeness of knowing math facts COLD will be upon us soon when we start making equivalent fractions, and adding and subtraction fractions with un-like denominators!)  Workbook pages:  73-80
Science:  More focus on animals and habitats:   Study Guide used to study for quiz on Wednesday.   Read pgs 14- 17 Questions 1-3 pg 17, read pgs 21-23 Questions 1-3 pg 23 with Think Share Pair partner
Social Studies:  Intro to Colonial America   pgs 33-38 in text.  Comprehension questions  4 A and 4B
Reading/ Language Arts: Topic sentences/body/ good details enhance the text of stories and thank you letters.  Fact and opinion.  Reading Log due.   Final draft of thank you letters  due Thursday.  Oral reading evaluation.  
Spelling Lesson 8 soft “o” WB p31 and 32 HW  Test Friday
Bible review truth of our Bible verses from skit, practice skit.  With props and on stage.
