November 2

Hello Families,
The dismal weather has returned, but things are sunny and interesting in 4th grade.  Last week, they did a wonderful job of investigating, planning, making, revising and presenting their catapults.  We also were  learning  about  the Explorers,  and imagining why WE would go exploring despite the danger.  Their answers are hanging in the hall.   Quite interestingJ.   Onward to the ordinary:
Homework:
Spelling:  Lesson 9- Long O
Science:  Expect to find your children lurking around your house this week, looking for simple machines J
Math: We took a multiplication fact test today that covered  1’s,2’s,3’s,4’s, and 5’s. Check their Monday folder to see how they did.  Their mastery needs to be good to move forward with Long Multiplication and Long Division which are coming up!!  We are practicing 6’s this week.
Reading- Reading Calendar is due by tomorrow,  November 3.  It is an important part of the reading grade.
Bible:   God is Omniscient
Chapel:  One of the ways that we encourage generosity and love of others is by helping  Ana Maribel and Mfunelo . We collect an offering each week during class and then put it in the large collection on Tuesdays during chapel.
Computers:  We are doing keyboarding practice once or twice a week during computer class.  This is a skill that 4th graders need to be reasonably proficient at by the end of 4th grade.  Please help them practice at home to increase mastery.  We use  Freetypinggame.net.     Mavis Beacon and Type to Learn are also good programs.  The BIG thing is for them to learn to keep their fingers in the proper, home row, position.  They want to hunt and peck. J There will be a grade for keyboarding at the end of progress 2.

Up Coming Events:
Please pick your cookie order up from the cafeteria NEXT FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6, between 3:00pm – 6pm.  If your child goes to Extended Care, drama or Sports, you will need to pick up your cookie dough when you pick your child up. It is important that you pick your order up because we don’t have the freezer space to store your order. Your order form and prizes will be with your order.
