First Post of the year!

Dear Parents,
It was good to see so many of you last week at McTeacher night- you probably couldn’t miss the fact that I was the  CCA’s McTeacher good fairy princess….. such silliness , but thank you for your support!
I am sending home the passport for this month with this letter.  We have an adjustment in this month’s assignment.  First, an explanation:  Last year somehow several grades were out of sync with the way the levels should work.  Therefore this year we need to Catch Up. In the fourth grade we will be testing on levels 1-4.  This means that the students will need to learn both levels 3 and 4 as new information.  We will focus on level three in class early in the month.  Therefore level three should be reviewed at home and level four is being taught/learned at home as homework.  (New families that have never been part of PassPort please concentrate on levels 1-3- those will be the ones that the new students will be tested on).
Homework:

Spelling: Lesson 5 workbook and test are both Friday.  Please be sure and look over your student’s work in the spelling workbook, then sign it.
Math:  Onward to 4’s this week.  We will practice 4’s and reverse this week.   Written quizzes are each Friday. Social Studies:  We will finish our work on maps and land forms this week.  Then on to the Explorers! Do you know who discovered your cinnamon?  We will soon.
Science: Simple machines with load, effort and work
Reading- Average 20 minutes per day. Please help your student find the problem, the settng, and some characteristic of the main character in their home reading. The September home reading calendar is due by October 2.  Please help them remember to bring it in.  The reading calendar is one of the student’s reading grades.
