May 19, 2017


Dear Families, 

  There are several end of year events many of which you might be interested in attending.  The BIG new one is an end-of-the- year trip to Millersylvania State Park.  Mr. Ingram will lead us on a hike to look for edible plants, we will have a BBQ, and splash and wade in the water if it is nice. Please plan on coming along if you can.  Let me know if you can come with us. I need someone to coordinate our BBQ/food.    Please let me know if you would be able to helpJ.   

          Also, the summer camp program needs as many 1 gallon milk or juice jugs as they can gather.  Just send them in and I will give them to Miss Whitney.    



Homework:

Spelling: Lesson 32  Greek and Latin roots.

Math:  Please focus on 0-10 division facts.  We will have another quick review quiz next week. 

Passport: The test is May 25.

Reading/LA:   Calendar due June 2

PE   PAC  Please check and make sure you have May’s PAC.   

Keyboarding- Keep working on it J

Dear Families,

            We are hoping to have bounce houses at our last day festivities, but we need some strong dads to help set them up early (7am) on the 9th.  Please let me know if you can help!!

Dear Families,

          Thank you all for sending in the beautiful flowers.  We weeded under sodden skies, and then planted in a downpour!  The area looks wonderful.  Thank you, again!  We have been working on our Business Poster Boards for our STEM night.  They are turning out well.  Please remember that we are asking all of the kids to come to STEM night, on the 27th from 6:30-8:00.  We did Spring Pictures today.  There is information about ordering on the back of this note.  Spelling Bee words went home today. 

Homework:

Spelling: Lesson 28 

Math:  Please focus on 0-10 division facts.

Passport: You should have received the April passport map, if you are missing yours, please let me know. 

Reading/LA:   20 minutes per night. 

PE   A new PAC went home earlier this month.  Due May 1

Dear Families, We have survived the tedious task of Terra Nova testingJ.  They did very well concentrating and giving their best effort!   The results should be available by June. 

Homework:



Spelling: Lesson 25, hard and soft “c” and “g”. 

Math:  Please focus on 0-10 division facts.

Passport: Test March 30

Reading/LA:   20 minutes per night

Key boarding:  After talking with some parents, I realized that you need more information about passing keyboarding tests.  I have included a checklist with some more information. The students have a copy of this checklist at school and should be familiar with it.  Please email me with information about the tests that they pass.

Here are some highlights for this week: 



Homework:

Spelling: The new workbook for lesson 21 went home today.  Homophones and Homographs.   Students with the short list will just do the pattern words plus the states.               

Math:  Please focus on 0-10 division facts.

Passport:   New maps went home today!

Reading/LA:   Read Read Read! Calendars are due Wednesday, March 1!!

Key boarding 2-3 times a week.  The next goal is to finish the last 20 lessons, 9 tests.  The lessons start being easier once we are past the original set.  Please keep an eye-out that they are using the proper fingers in the proper places.

PE     February PAC due March 1. 

Bible: 2 Timothy 1:9

Auction News:-  It is coming right up- be sure and buy your tickets, and I will see you there J.

 Hi- I don't know what happened to the layout- but all the info is here.
Dear Families, 
Thank you for your prayers for my dad.  He is much better since he has three new stents. The surgery was Tuesday, so my mom said that “he has a new and improved, well improved anyway, heart for Valentine’s Day!”  Thank you again.  I have not been able to get any papers corrected this week, so the stack of returned papers will be light. 

Homework:
Spelling: The new workbook for lesson 19 went home today.  It focuses on plurals, always hard to remember.               
Math: 0-10 division.  Keep reviewing, it makes allllll math easier. 
Passport:   The test is February 23rd
Reading/LA:   Read Read Read.

Bible:  2 Corinthians 5:21.  I am pleased with the students who took the initiative and memorized the Bible verse this week.  However, because I was gone, I didn’t do the BV test today.  We will have the test next Friday.
Auction News:  We have a few things for our basket, thank you to those families!  Please remember to send some things if you are able.

January 6 2017


Dear Families,   

Welcome back!  I hope you had some wonderful family time during the break.  The kids have been telling me about the travels and adventuresJ.   Now, “Nose to the Grindstone” and off we go:

Homework:

Spelling: The new workbook for lesson 14 went home today. Test Friday               

Math:  Next week, we will practicing multiplication 0-10’s.   The mixed test on multiplication 0-10 will be Friday, the 13th.  The nice thing about being this far with math facts is any deck of cards can be used to practiceJ.

Passport:  The maps went home the week before Christmas, and other copy today.  The test is January 26th. 

Reading/LA:   Read Read Read! A new calendar went home today. 

Key boarding 2-3 times a week.  I am afraid that I need to clarify something.  The expectation is that the students will be done with lesson 10 by the end of the semester, January 24.  However, I didn’t explain that the expectation is the 10 lessons AND THE TESTS THAT GO WITH THEM need to be done. So, I need to have scores or verification for the 4 tests from you if they finish tests at home. 

PE     January PAC went home today and is due 2/1-    A few students have not turned in December’s PAC.- zero credit if not turned in this week.
